The Software Product Generalist position is a two-year rotational Tour of Duty, which will be broken into three segments, detailed below.

Part 1: Onboarding & Technical Support (9 Months)

The first rotation of your Tour of Duty will focus on supporting Cobalt’s clients and employees. After you have completed your onboarding training, which will be your first month, you will work with our knowledgeable technical support team to get to know our clients, their businesses, and how they use the different Cobalt products. You will also be given opportunities to provide internal support by working with our admin team on business projects and efforts geared toward improving the culture and technologies at Cobalt.

  • In-depth product knowledge
  • Business administration
  • Employee engagement

Part 2: Project Implementation (8 Months)

The second rotation will be with our consulting team working alongside our talented project managers on Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Cobalt’s products and processes. This rotation will be dedicated to learning about software project implementations, quality assurance, and the project management process.

Skills Gained from this Rotation:

  • Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
  • Agile software development and Scrum methodology
  • Quality Assurance (QA) testing
  • Software configuration

Part 3: Product Marketing & Sales (7 Months)

The third and final rotation of your Tour of Duty will be with Cobalt’s product and sales teams. After spending 17 months getting to know our products, processes, and clients in the first two rotations, you will be uniquely equipped to help market and sell our products and services.

Skills Gained from this Rotation:

  • Sales demo configuration
  • Content creation and promotion
  • Dynamics 365 Sales + Marketing administration

After the Tour of Duty

After two years of mastering the different functions of each rotation, you will have a good understanding of who we are as a company and what we do, as well as a better understanding of your own personal interests as it pertains to your career path in software development. The end of this three-part Tour of Duty will mark the end of your time as a Software Product Generalist; however, you will have the opportunity to either continue your career at Cobalt (based on your interests, what you’ve learned, and your performance over the past two years) or continue your career elsewhere, taking the comprehensive training and knowledge you gained at Cobalt with you.
