About the Position

Cobalt is growing and we’re looking for competitive, hard-working, curious individuals to join our Sales department as Business Development Representatives (BDRs). The BDR role is at the heart of our business, and you will have the ability to hone your skills and knowledge to progress through the organization. This position is part of the Sales department and reports to Cobalt’s sales director.

Successful candidates will have excellent communication skills, be relationship builders, and have a desire to expand and grow within Cobalt. If you have a go-getter attitude, coachability, and want to contribute to a team and company that will recognize your hard work then Cobalt will be a great fit.

We’re seeking professionals from a range of backgrounds; whether you have a few years of sales experience or you’re a recent college graduate eager to start your career. Successful BDRs are those with a positive attitude, strong work ethic, motivation to learn and build a career with Cobalt, and do not shy away from a challenge.

BDRs will be at the forefront of driving new business opportunities across the sales pipeline and are responsible for building relationships with prospective customers.

The target start date for this position is March 4, 2024.

Primary Duties

  • Learn about Cobalt’s products and services and how they create value for our customers.
  • Research target accounts to identify key decision-makers and create tailored messaging for each prospect.
  • Conduct outbound sales activities such as cold calling, personalized emailing, and social media engagement.
  • Engage prospects in impactful, relevant conversations to qualify potential sales opportunities and set up high-quality meetings (showcases) for an Account Executive (AE) to run.
  • Work with our AEs to create target account lists and plan strategically for how best to approach your territory and drive new business.
  • Partner with the marketing team to follow up on email marketing campaigns and nurture prospects to convert including pre- and post-conference outreach efforts.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date information in our internal CRM (Dynamics 365).
  • Leverage Cobalt’s tech stack: Microsoft Dynamics 365 Sales, ZoomInfo, and LinkedIn Sales Navigator to put yourself in the best position for success.
  • Meet or exceed activity metrics for calls, showcases scheduled, and generating sales opportunities for AEs of the team.

Qualifications

REQUIRED

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Excellent communication skills and comfortable speaking with prospects and colleagues
  • Track record of success in a goal-oriented environment
  • A great attitude and a desire to help shape the growing team, especially as we enter new markets
  • Strong work ethic and perseverance
  • Interest in technology and a career in sales
  • Desire to seek out and accept coaching to continually improve performance
  • Ability to work in the U.S. without sponsorship

DESIRED

  • 0-3 years of experience in Sales Development, cold-calling, Lead Generation, or Sales is preferred
  • Energetic phone skills, excellent listening skills, strong writing skills
  • Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively
  • Aptitude for understanding how technology products and solutions solve business problems
  • Excels in a high-energy, fast-moving team environment
  • Ability to work collaboratively with employees within the department and across functions

The Business Development Representative position pays an annual base salary of $50,000 – $60,000, based on experience with total on-target earnings (OTE) of $70,000 to $80,000 based on hitting quarterly goals for booked showcases and next-stage opportunities. BDRs also receive a bonus for every opportunity closed by an AE as a result of their outreach efforts.

Hybrid Work Policy

Cobalt has adopted a hybrid remote work policy in order to continue fostering our company culture of teamwork and collaboration. All employees are expected to work a minimum of 25 days per quarter at Cobalt’s office in Arlington, VA.
