CRM Snapshot is a free, MS Dynamics CRM solution from Cobalt that allows you to create regular onsite backups of your data, recover deleted records and create copies of existing records with the click of a button. The idea is simple, whether you want to manually create a point in time backup of your records or create a workflow to automatically generate backups anytime a record is created, updated or deleted, CRM Snapshot can oblige. In addition to backing up and recycling sensitive data, CRM Snapshot also allows you to copy existing records in CRM, reducing the time it takes to enter new records that contain the same information as other records in your system. The user is put in full control with an easy-to-use configurable clone setup page that is accessed by selecting the “configurable clone” step in a new workflow and selecting, “set properties.”

Restore from Audit Records
With Snapshot 3D you can now easily restore records from your audit history. This becomes very useful if you have deleted records but had not already installed snapshot prior to deleting them, or if you had snapshot installed but you had not yet configured snapshot to recycle records for the entity where records were deleted. Record Recycling Bin
The Recycle Process is triggered to automatically create a snapshot on delete of a record where the record has a snapshot recycle workflow configured. Recycled snapshots can be viewed in the Recycling Bin view in the sub-navigation panel under Settings in CRM. Check out our blog to read about how the recycle bin works.
Using “Deep Rollback” by clicking the “Deep Rollback” button in the ribbon toolbar from a snapshot record will restore the information stored on that snapshot and any related entities that you selected when setting up the workflow. Simply put it allows you to restore a set of related records to an older point in time. Taking occasional “deep backups” on records is a good way to ensure that you can always revert back to a point in time if something goes wrong. You can use base CRM functionality and configure the workflow to run every time a record is changed, or just run it on demand, depending on your business needs. Check it out!
Output parameters are a neat new feature that we developed after hearing feedback from one of our users.
Put simply, they allow you to automatically populate certain information on cloned records to “update” fields on those records from the original record. They are set up as child workflows. To learn more, read our blog about output parameters.
